Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and posted.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheets and P&L statements, providing insights to management.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely collection of receivables to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies.
- Payroll Administration: Assist in processing payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations (MA specific).
- Compliance: Stay updated on tax laws and accounting standards (GAAP), ensuring all filings are accurate and timely.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage) to manage financial data efficiently.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably in a corporate or accounting firm setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Pro and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) are mandatory.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and local Massachusetts tax regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure high accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Certifications: Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or CPA (active or in progress) is a plus.
