As a key member of our Finance Department, you will be the guardian of our payroll data, bridging the gap between our employees and their compensation. We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong command of payroll software and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll processing cycle, ensuring accuracy for weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls.
- Calculate and verify employee hours, deductions, taxes, and garnishments in accordance with current laws.
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns and reports (e.g., W-2s, 940s, 941s).
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, deductions, and time-off balances with a high degree of professionalism.
- Collaborate with the HR Department to maintain up-to-date employee data and resolve discrepancies in timekeeping systems.
- Conduct regular internal audits of payroll records to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Assist in the implementation of new payroll systems and software upgrades.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of professional payroll experience in a corporate or high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or Workday) is mandatory.
- Strong working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state-specific labor laws.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to non-financial staff.
