Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery.
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to commercial payers and government entities.
- Monitor claims status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable, resolve billing discrepancies, and post payments.
- Prepare and send patient statements and collection letters as needed.
- Collaborate with the collections team to reduce bad debt and improve cash flow.
- Maintain precise records of billing transactions and resolve patient inquiries professionally.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Medical Billing is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or a related financial field.
- Proficiency in electronic billing systems (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards.
- Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations and privacy laws.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
