Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Review and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare) with a focus on reducing denials and increasing first-pass acceptance rates.
- Patient Billing: Generate and send patient statements, collect payments, and post payments to patient accounts accurately.
- Account Reconciliation: Investigate and resolve discrepancies in patient accounts, including denials and underpayments, to ensure accounts are current.
- Compliance & Accuracy: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Communication: Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing questions and outstanding balances professionally and efficiently.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic and physical records of billing transactions and correspondence.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner, or similar).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data integrity.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
