Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping processes including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns, quarterly management accounts, and year-end financial statements
- Maintain digital and physical financial records using Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage software
- Conduct monthly variance analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities for SME clients
- Liaise directly with HMRC, auditors, and senior stakeholders during compliance reviews
- Lead month-end closing procedures with zero-tolerance for errors
- Implement and optimise financial control systems for new client onboarding
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in full-cycle bookkeeping or similar finance role
- Proven expertise with Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage accounting software
- Recognised accounting qualification (AAT Level 4/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP, VAT regulations, and HMRC compliance
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client reporting
- Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
