Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including sales and purchase ledgers and credit control.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Process invoices, expenses, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and year-end audit schedules.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist in budget forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems, both digital and physical, in line with compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Finance Assistant (minimum 2-3 years).
  • AAT Level 3 or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA part-qualified desirable).
  • Strong working knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
