Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for 15-20 SME clients using Xero and QuickBooks
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and annual accounts to HMRC
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts monthly
- Oversee payroll processing and pension auto-enrolment compliance
- Generate management accounts and variance analysis for client review
- Lead month-end closing procedures with strict deadline adherence
- Maintain digital financial records with robust audit trail documentation
Qualifications
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent bookkeeping certification (AAT Level 4+)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in UK SME bookkeeping and tax compliance
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel (PivotTables/VLOOKUP)
- Demonstrated knowledge of UK tax legislation (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax)
- Proven ability to manage high-volume transaction processing with 99.9% accuracy
- Exceptional attention to detail and forensic reconciliation skills
- Experience training junior bookkeepers and process optimization
