Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and financial records for 15-20 client portfolios
- Process monthly payroll and manage VAT returns compliant with HMRC regulations
- Prepare management accounts and year-end financial statements using Xero/QuickBooks
- Lead month-end closing processes with bank reconciliations and journal entries
- Advise clients on cash flow optimization and financial best practices
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during compliance reviews
- Mentor junior bookkeepers and implement process improvements
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' UK bookkeeping experience with SME portfolios
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent qualification essential
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel (VLOOKUP/PivotTables)
- Proven experience with payroll processing and VAT submissions
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP and tax legislation
- Exceptional attention to detail with problem-solving aptitude
- Full clean driving license preferred for client visits
