Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping processes for 15-20 SME clients using Xero and QuickBooks
- Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Oversee VAT returns, payroll processing, and HMRC compliance
- Lead month-end closing procedures and variance analysis
- Develop financial controls to ensure audit readiness
- Mentor junior bookkeepers and process improvements
- Collaborate with tax advisors on strategic financial planning
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' UK bookkeeping experience with SME portfolios
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent accounting qualification essential
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel
- Deep knowledge of UK GAAP, HMRC regulations, and VAT schemes
- Proven experience managing complex payroll systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- ACA/ACCA part-qualified candidates strongly preferred
- Experience training and mentoring junior staff
