Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for diverse SME clients using Xero and QuickBooks
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Handle VAT returns, payroll processing, and HMRC compliance
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and control accounts monthly
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable and maintain accurate general ledgers
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and audit coordination
- Implement process improvements for financial efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven 3+ years in full-cycle bookkeeping with UK SMEs
- Expertise in Xero/QuickBooks and Excel (advanced functions)
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent accounting qualification required
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, and HMRC regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize competing tasks
- Professional communication skills for client/stakeholder interactions
