Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile multi-currency accounts payable/receivable across 15+ client portfolios
- Prepare monthly management accounts, VAT returns, and statutory filings compliant with UK GAAP
- Oversee payroll processing for 50+ employees using Sage 50 software
- Develop and implement financial controls to mitigate risk and ensure audit readiness
- Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Manage relationship with external auditors and tax authorities
- Mentor junior bookkeepers and optimize department workflows
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in UK bookkeeping with SMEs or practice environment
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent professional qualification essential
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Excel with VBA knowledge
- Deep understanding of HMRC regulations, MTD compliance, and UK tax legislation
- Proven track record in month-end closing and financial reporting cycles
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail (error rate <0.5%)
- Strong stakeholder management experience with non-finance stakeholders
- Relevant degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
