Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Accurately calculate and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring timely payments.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all payroll practices adhere to federal, state, and local labor laws, including FLSA regulations.
- Deduction Handling: Process and verify complex deductions, including garnishments, taxes, and benefits contributions.
- Account Reconciliation: Maintain payroll ledgers and reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy.
- Record Maintenance: Organize and maintain employee payroll files and records in compliance with company policies.
- Tax Filing Support: Assist in the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual payroll tax reports.
- Timekeeping Oversight: Review timecards and timesheets submitted by staff to resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related accounting role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data accuracy in high-volume environments.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with employees regarding payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Basic understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws.
