Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for all employees using ADP and QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, rates, and deductions.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll registers, payslips, and tax documents (W-2s, 1099s) in compliance with IRS and state guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate employee time and attendance records, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Handle garnishments, tax levies, and other legal deductions with strict confidentiality.
  • Answer payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues regarding pay stubs and tax forms.
  • Assist with month-end close processes by reconciling payroll liabilities and preparing journal entries.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and tax legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related accounting role.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations, including FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and W-4/W-2 forms.
