Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees using [Software Name], ensuring accuracy in calculations for wages, deductions, and taxes.
- Prepare and verify payroll tax returns, including federal (Form 941) and New York State/Local tax filings, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Calculate and document overtime hours, bonuses, commissions, and garnishments in accordance with FLSA regulations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries regarding pay stubs and tax documents.
- Maintain and update employee time records, address changes, and ensure the payroll database is current and secure.
- Assist in the year-end closing process, including the preparation of W-2 forms and 1099s.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar administrative role.
- Proficiency with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or Ceridian) and Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Deep understanding of payroll laws, tax codes, and compliance requirements specific to New York State.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to prevent errors in financial data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive employee inquiries with discretion.
