Responsibilities
- Process and verify payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, overtime, and deductions, ensuring timely bi-weekly or monthly disbursements.
- Manage and reconcile timekeeping systems, including reviewing timesheets, correcting errors, and flagging discrepancies for management review.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws, including FLSA regulations and Kentucky payroll tax requirements.
- Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports, including year-to-date earnings, tax summaries, and garnishment notices.
- Assist with year-end payroll processing, including W-2 form preparation and 401(k) reconciliation.
- Answer employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, tax forms, and payroll policies in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related accounting role.
- Proficiency with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups).
- Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, wage garnishments, and benefit deductions.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve employee concerns effectively.
