Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly financial statements for SME clients
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger entries
- Assist with VAT returns and HMRC compliance documentation
- Support audit preparation by gathering financial documentation
- Manage payroll processing for 15-20 client businesses
- Develop and maintain financial spreadsheets for budget analysis
- Train junior accounting interns on firm processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (2:1 minimum)
- Basic knowledge of UK GAAP and HMRC regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables)
- Experience with accounting software (Xero/QuickBooks preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with numerical accuracy
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive problem-solving approach
