Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping cycles including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports with actionable insights
- Ensure VAT compliance and HMRC submissions are accurate and timely
- Maintain digital financial records using Xero and QuickBooks with 99.9% accuracy
- Collaborate with auditors during annual reviews and implement process improvements
- Support cash flow forecasting and budgeting initiatives
- Train junior staff on accounting best practices and software proficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years UK-based bookkeeping experience with SMEs
- Proven expertise in Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage accounting software
- ACA/ACCA/CIP qualified or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Advanced Excel skills with VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and macros
- Exceptional attention to detail with error-spotting capabilities
- Strong understanding of UK tax regulations and VAT schemes
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
