Responsibilities
- Accurately review and process patient invoices, insurance claims, and billing statements to ensure timely submission.
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers, clearinghouses, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies and denied claims.
- Maintain and update patient financial records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and billing software.
- Analyze monthly billing reports to identify trends, revenue leakage, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal financial policies.
- Assist the finance team with month-end close procedures and financial reconciliation.
- Train junior staff on billing protocols and software usage.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in medical billing, healthcare finance, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-10) and standard insurance terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Familiarity with major EHR systems (Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) or billing platforms (QuickBooks, Medisoft).
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to detect errors in data entry.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree or certification in Medical Billing and Coding is a plus.
