Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Verify patient insurance eligibility and prepare accurate claim submissions electronically and via paper to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and appeal decisions to maximize revenue.
- Patient Billing: Manage patient invoicing, statements, and financial reconciliation to ensure accurate account balances.
- Compliance: Ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and internal compliance standards.
- Reporting: Generate and review monthly billing reports to track KPIs, AR days, and collection rates.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and insurance carriers regarding billing inquiries and account status.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and practice management software.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors in data and ensure high accuracy in financial documentation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Education: Associate degree in Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
