About the Role:
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining accurate financial records. If you excel in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for numbers, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information and eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers (commercial and Medicaid/Medicare) via electronic and paper methods.
- Track claim status and follow up on denied or delayed claims to secure reimbursement.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities and generate reports for management review.
- Assist in the resolution of patient inquiries regarding statements and account balances.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to spot errors in data entry.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with patients and vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
