Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information and eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, United, Medicare, etc.) with high accuracy.
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims and resubmit them within compliance guidelines to maximize revenue.
- Manage patient accounts receivable, including sending statements and collecting outstanding balances.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in our practice management software.
- Assist in the month-end close process and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, EPIC, NextGen, or equivalent).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations and compliance standards.
