Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual (1040) and business tax returns (1120, 1065, 1065-B) with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct tax research to resolve complex client issues and interpret current tax laws.
- Communicate professionally with clients to gather documentation and explain tax positions.
- Assist in tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial benefits.
- Ensure strict adherence to filing deadlines and compliance with IRS and state regulations.
- Collaborate with the audit and accounting teams to provide comprehensive financial solutions.
- Maintain and update client tax files and records in the firm's database system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Current CPA candidate or Enrolled Agent (EA) status is a strong plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation or a recent graduate with an internship in public accounting.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSystem fx) is highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak tax season.
