As a Payroll Specialist, you will ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for our diverse workforce while maintaining strict compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Manage the full-cycle payroll process for 500+ employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness on a bi-weekly basis.
- Compliance & Tax: Ensure all payroll activities comply with FLSA, federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Employee Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- System Management: Utilize ADP Workforce Now to maintain accurate employee records and run ad-hoc reports.
- Payroll Audits: Conduct monthly reconciliation of payroll data and prepare year-end tax documents (W-2s, 1099s).
- Collaboration: Partner with HR and Accounting departments to update compensation data and benefits information.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of payroll software (ADP, Paylocity, or Ceridian) and MS Excel.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and a strong commitment to confidentiality.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations in Maryland and the US.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff and management.
