Responsibilities
- Oversee Full-Cycle Payroll: Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments on a bi-weekly basis.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, including FLSA and ACA requirements.
- Tax Administration: Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted by deadlines.
- Benefits Coordination: Collaborate with the HR department to administer employee benefits, deductions, and ensure accurate payroll integration with HRIS systems.
- Record Keeping & Audits: Maintain accurate payroll records and assist in internal and external audits, preparing necessary documentation promptly.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, garnishments, and tax notices, providing exceptional service to employees.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll procedures and optimize software usage.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a corporate environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced working knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, or Ceridian) and MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources, or equivalent professional certification (e.g., CPP, PHR).
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and garnishment procedures.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to maintain high accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, management, and tax authorities.
