Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial and industrial loan applications using financial statements, cash flow projections, and industry benchmarks
- Prepare detailed credit memos and risk assessments with clear recommendations for approval, denial, or modification
- Monitor existing credit portfolios for early warning signs of deterioration and recommend mitigating actions
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure creative financing solutions aligned with client needs
- Stay current on regulatory changes (FRA, Basel III, etc.) and ensure compliance in all credit decisions
- Develop and maintain risk rating models using Excel, SQL, and specialized credit software
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to continuous improvement of credit policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA/CFA preferred)
- 5+ years of commercial credit analysis experience in banking or financial services
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, macros)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and credit risk frameworks
- Experience with credit origination systems (e.g., Moody's RiskCalculus, FICO Blaze Advisor)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for presenting complex financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
