Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage end-to-end bookkeeping operations, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations to ensure all financial records are up to date.
- VAT Returns: Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
- Payroll Support: Assist with monthly payroll processing and ensure all statutory deductions are calculated correctly.
- Reporting: Prepare financial reports and trial balances for management review.
- Software Management: Maintain and update our accounting software (Sage 50cloud/Xero) with current data.
Qualifications
- Qualifications: Fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or part-qualified (AAT) accountant with strong knowledge of UK GAAP.
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping role, preferably within a UK-based practice or SME.
- Software Skills: Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies quickly.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance staff.
