Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Oversee daily accounting operations, including accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and timely completion of month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses to senior management.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure all financial activities adhere to federal, state, and local regulations. Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and coordinate necessary documentation.
- Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies in current accounting processes and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior accountants and staff, providing guidance on technical accounting issues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform thorough reconciliation of bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure data accuracy and detect discrepancies.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of local, state, and federal tax returns, ensuring timely filing and compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; Master’s degree or CPA certification is a significant plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting or public accounting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros), and accounting software.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a proven track record of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex financial discrepancies and propose viable, cost-effective solutions.
