Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse workforce, ensuring all deductions, bonuses, and commissions are calculated accurately.
  • Ensure strict adherence to federal and California state labor laws, including FLSA, ACA, and PERS compliance.
  • Process timecards, reconcile timekeeping data, and resolve any payroll discrepancies or errors promptly.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, tax documents, garnishments, and direct deposit details.
  • Prepare and file necessary payroll tax reports, W-2s, and 1099s with the EDD and IRS.
  • Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to maintain accurate employee data within our HRIS.
  • Participate in payroll audits and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Payroll Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, specifically within the state of California.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP, Workday, or Paycor is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of California labor laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and HRIS systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective employee interaction.
