The Role
As a Payroll Clerk, you will act as the gatekeeper of our payroll operations. You will process payroll for a diverse workforce, ensuring that all deductions, taxes, and bonuses are calculated correctly. You will collaborate closely with HR and management to resolve discrepancies and ensure a seamless payroll experience for every employee.
Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Accurately calculate and process payroll on a bi-weekly schedule using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring all timesheets are verified and approved.
- Compliance Management: Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local payroll tax laws (FLSA, Louisiana regulations) and prepare necessary quarterly and annual tax filings.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date payroll records and personnel files, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity at all times.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, assisting employees with questions regarding pay stubs, deductions, and direct deposits.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, including labor cost analysis, overtime reports, and garnishment tracking.
- System Maintenance: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of payroll software updates and troubleshoot technical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a corporate environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or Ceridian) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and benefits administration.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and ability to detect errors before processing large volumes of data.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex payroll information clearly to non-financial staff.
