We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our growing finance team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At Sunray Financial Group, we value accuracy and integrity. As a Payroll Clerk, you will act as the gatekeeper of our financial data, supporting both the HR and Finance departments to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accurate calculation of gross pay, deductions, and net pay.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including W-4s, direct deposit information, and tax filings.
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll tax reports and returns (e.g., Form 941, state quarterly returns).
- Handle payroll adjustments, corrections, and complex deductions such as garnishments or benefits.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, tax documents, and time-off balances in a timely and professional manner.
- Reconcile payroll bank accounts and prepare monthly payroll reports for management review.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure time tracking and leave balances are accurately reflected in the payroll system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing, bookkeeping, or a similar administrative role.
- Hands-on experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll) is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) for data analysis.
- Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect and correct errors quickly.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality.
