Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for over 200 employees using ADP and QuickBooks, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Prepare and review payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual returns, to ensure full compliance with Maryland and federal tax laws.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, discrepancies in paystubs, and respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation.
- Maintain and update employee payroll files, including personal information, tax forms (W-4, W-2), and benefit deductions.
- Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.
- Generate and distribute detailed payroll reports for management review and auditing purposes.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll expenses.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing or a similar administrative role.
- Proven proficiency with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, FLSA regulations, and wage and hour compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect errors and rectify them quickly.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll information to non-financial staff.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data.
