Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual and business income tax returns (Form 1040, 1120, 1065, 990) accurately and timely.
- Conduct research on complex tax regulations and tax law updates to ensure compliance.
- Communicate with clients regarding tax notices, missing documents, and return preparation status.
- Perform bookkeeping and general accounting tasks to support tax preparation.
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of client tax files and records.
- Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through legal and ethical means.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in public accounting.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Lacerte, Drake, or TurboTax).
- Strong knowledge of individual and corporate tax laws.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines during peak tax season.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for client meetings if required).
