We are seeking a candidate who is not just a number cruncher, but a strategic partner in our financial health.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all entries are accurate and timely.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and prepare monthly management accounts for review by senior management.
- Process invoices, handle accounts payable and receivable, and ensure vendor relationships are maintained.
- Assist with monthly payroll administration to guarantee employees receive their wages on time.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC in strict accordance with UK regulations.
- Reconcile credit card statements and maintain the fixed asset register.
- Assist in year-end audit preparations and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role within the UK finance sector.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software, such as Sage 50cloud or Xero.
- Full understanding of UK tax legislation, including Corporation Tax and VAT.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting packages.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- AAT Level 2/3/4 qualification is highly desirable.
