Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and claim submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance with payer requirements.
- Manage the revenue cycle process, including posting payments, adjustments, and denials.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance carriers, and internal team members to resolve billing discrepancies and unpaid claims.
- Generate and analyze monthly billing reports to identify trends and improve revenue collection.
- Update patient records in the billing database and ensure all documentation is current and secure.
- Assist in training junior staff and maintaining standard operating procedures for the billing department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles and healthcare reimbursement models.
- Excellent attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
