The Role:
As a Billing Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end billing process, from verifying patient demographics to reconciling monthly statements. You will work closely with our operations team to streamline workflows and improve collections.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify all medical claims and invoices for accuracy and compliance before submission.
- Submit claims to insurance payers and track status to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Research and resolve complex billing denials and underpayments by communicating with insurance carriers.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and explain statements to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and insurance records within our EMR system.
- Assist in monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal compliance policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR software (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot billing issues effectively.
- Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or equivalent experience preferred.
