Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation: Prepare and file individual, corporate, and partnership federal and state tax returns accurately and timely.
- Client Communication: Interact with clients to gather necessary financial data, answer tax-related inquiries, and explain complex tax concepts in plain language.
- Compliance: Ensure all tax filings comply with current tax laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Bookkeeping Support: Assist in maintaining client records, general ledgers, and reconciliation of accounts using tax software.
- Research: Conduct tax research to support tax planning strategies and resolve complex tax issues.
- Year-End Support: Assist in the preparation of year-end workpapers and schedules to support the tax provision process.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior accountants and tax managers to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
- Certifications: Candidate must be pursuing CPA or EA certification, or have passed the first part of the CPA exam.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or auditing (internships considered).
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, Drake) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with clients of all levels.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
