Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual and corporate income tax returns, including 1040, 1120, and 1065 forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Conduct thorough research on tax laws and regulations to identify opportunities for tax savings and ensure full compliance for clients.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding tax inquiries, document requests, and filing status updates, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and schedules as required for audit or review engagements.
- Utilize tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, Lacerte) to manage client data and streamline the filing process.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and estimated tax payments and perform year-end tax planning for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree or CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in tax preparation and accounting, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal tax laws, state tax codes, and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tax preparation tools such as ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or Drake Tax.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients in plain English.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines during tax season.
