In this role, you will be the gatekeeper of our compensation data, ensuring accurate and timely processing for all employees. You will work closely with HR and Finance leadership to streamline payroll operations and improve employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Process Bi-Weekly Payroll: Accurately calculate and process payroll for a diverse workforce using [System Name], ensuring all deductions and taxes are applied correctly.
- Compliance Management: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including FLSA and ACA compliance in Illinois.
- Garnishment & Tax Filing: Handle complex payroll deductions, including wage garnishments, child support, and state unemployment filings.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, providing insights into labor costs and overtime trends.
- System Administration: Collaborate with IT and Finance to update employee records, process new hires, and manage terminations within the payroll system.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably within a mid-sized to large company.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources preferred; High school diploma with relevant certifications (e.g., CPP) is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy when handling sensitive financial data and sensitive employee information.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to non-finance staff.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Illinois state tax laws and federal payroll regulations.
