Responsibilities

  • Manage the Full-Cycle Payroll: Execute the end-to-end payroll process for hourly, salaried, and commission-based employees on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring 100% accuracy in calculations.
  • Compliance & Tax Filing: Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns (e.g., Form 941, state quarterly/annual reports) and handle all necessary compliance documentation.
  • Timekeeping Management: Process and verify timekeeping data, including timesheets, leave requests, and overtime records to ensure adherence to labor laws.
  • Issue Resolution: Handle complex payroll inquiries, including garnishments, tax levies, direct deposit issues, and benefit deductions with empathy and professionalism.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll bank accounts and general ledger accounts monthly, identifying and resolving any discrepancies immediately.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll procedures and recommend updates to HRIS and payroll software configurations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a corporate or high-volume environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of payroll software (ADP, Workday, Paychex, or similar) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of FLSA regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance requirements (FICA, FUTA, SUTA).
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to detect errors before finalizing payments.
