Role Overview
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with local and federal accounting standards. You will play a crucial role in the month-end close process and support the finance leadership team with strategic reporting.
Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor relationships, and ensure all payments are made according to payment terms. Reconcile customer accounts and post payments.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure bank statements match company records and identify any discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&L statements and balance sheets.
- Month-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close process by preparing necessary schedules and adjusting entries.
- Tax Preparation Support: Collaborate with external accountants during tax season to ensure all tax filings are accurate and filed on time.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial processes comply with GAAP and internal company policies.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; Associate degree or equivalent experience accepted.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect errors and inconsistencies in financial data.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex accounting issues.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
