Responsibilities
- Manage the Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the reconciliation of general ledgers and bank accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present complex financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, to senior management.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure all accounting practices adhere to GAAP and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows and internal controls to increase efficiency.
- Budget Preparation: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis to stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Mentor junior accounting staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA certification is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
- Location: Must reside within the Baltimore, MD metropolitan area to support hybrid onsite requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance staff.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data integrity in all financial records.
