Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts: Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure bank statements match general ledger accounts and identify discrepancies promptly.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, for review by management and clients.
- Payroll Support: Assist in processing payroll, calculating taxes, and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Tax Preparation: Collaborate with external accountants to gather necessary documentation for annual tax filings.
- Record Keeping: Organize and maintain financial records, documents, and digital files in an easily accessible system.
- Client Communication: Liaise with clients to answer financial inquiries and provide detailed reports on their financial status.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of professional bookkeeping experience required; experience with small business accounting is a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero is mandatory; experience with Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) is essential.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and basic tax preparation processes.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect errors and inconsistencies in financial data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Integrity: High level of professionalism and ethical standards regarding confidential financial information.
