The Role
In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims, managing patient billing inquiries, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical insurance claims (HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10) to payers with high accuracy.
- Analyze and resolve claim denials and rejections to maximize revenue collection.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery.
- Manage patient billing statements and handle inbound payment inquiries professionally.
- Collaborate with the accounts receivable team to follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal compliance policies.
- Utilize billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar) to track claim status and financial reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or Healthcare Administration is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims adjudication, or revenue cycle management.
- Familiarity with insurance payers (BCBS, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid) and claim submission processes.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare coding standards and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
