As a Payroll Specialist at Meridian, you will play a crucial role in our finance department, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations while maintaining the highest level of accuracy. Responsibilities
- Oversee the full-cycle payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of weekly paychecks to all employees.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including FLSA and wage and hour laws.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, garnishments, and complex deductions promptly to maintain employee satisfaction.
- Prepare and file required payroll tax reports and year-end forms (W-2s, 1099s) in accordance with deadlines.
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency.
- Provide exceptional support to employees regarding pay inquiries, time-off balances, and payroll documentation.
- Collaborate with the HR and Accounting departments to maintain up-to-date personnel and payroll records.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong working knowledge of FLSA, payroll tax compliance, and regulatory updates.
- High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive financial data with absolute discretion.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience is considered.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex payroll information clearly.
