Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns and manage sales tax compliance in accordance with HMRC regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and profit & loss reports for management review.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and vendor management.
- Reconcile credit card statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Support the finance team with ad-hoc reporting and administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within the UK.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero or Sage accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros are a plus).
- Deep understanding of UK tax laws, specifically VAT and corporation tax.
- ACCA, CIMA, AAT, or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
