Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns (Form 1040, 1065, 1120, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial documents and explain tax positions in a clear, professional manner.
- Research current tax laws and regulations to ensure full compliance and identify potential tax savings strategies for clients.
- Utilize advanced tax preparation software (e.g., ProSeries, Lacerte, UltraTax) to process returns efficiently.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes for client accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and analysis for client review.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client financial data.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or EA certification is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of Federal and California state tax codes and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and tax preparation software.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
