Job Description
We're seeking a meticulous Senior Accountant to join our remote-first finance team based in Chicago. This is an immediate opening for a detail-oriented professional to manage complex financial operations while working remotely from Illinois or Virginia. You'll be instrumental in driving financial accuracy and strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and income reports
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and federal/state tax regulations
- Develop and maintain robust financial models for forecasting and budgeting
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with accuracy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial strategy and cost optimization
- Conduct internal audits and implement financial controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA/MBA strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public or corporate finance
- Expertise in QuickBooks, SAP, and advanced Excel functions
- Proven experience with multi-state tax compliance (IL/VA focus)
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail
- Remote work experience with self-discipline and time management
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder reporting
