Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping operations, including sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and annual corporation tax computations in strict accordance with HMRC regulations.
- Process payroll for UK-based staff using [Software Name], ensuring all statutory deductions and payments are accurate.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures, including trial balance reviews and financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and assist with the audit preparation process.
- Provide ad-hoc financial support and training to junior finance staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Finance Administrator, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a UK-based firm.
- AAT Level 4 (or equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA/ACA) is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, HMRC tax legislation, and payroll rules.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage 50cloud or Xero) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues.
