Responsibilities
- Manage End-to-End Bookkeeping: Oversee the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- VAT & Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert financial advice and resolving queries efficiently.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize cloud-based accounting software (Xero/QuickBooks) to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Payroll Support: Assist in processing payroll runs and ensuring correct statutory deductions.
Qualifications
- Education: Fully qualified AAT member or equivalent accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role within a practice or commercial environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage. Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) are essential.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data integrity in high-volume environments.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- UK Specifics: Deep understanding of UK tax laws, double-entry bookkeeping principles, and statutory reporting requirements.
