Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile bank statements monthly
- Process accounts payable/receivable and manage payroll for 15+ clients
- Prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements) monthly/quarterly
- Oversee sales tax filings and ensure compliance with Illinois state regulations
- Implement and optimize QuickBooks cloud accounting systems
- Collaborate with CPAs during annual audits and tax preparation
- Train junior staff on accounting best practices and software proficiency
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience with QuickBooks Pro/Premier
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, macros)
- Deep knowledge of Illinois sales tax regulations and payroll processing
- Proven experience with multi-client accounting software (e.g., Xero, FreshBooks)
- Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
